All Students preparing for Grade exams are recommended to use the Hofnotes on-line training pages to practise for the aural tests. 

At higher grades  you must be able to discuss with the examiner musical features such as texture, form, style, and period of a piece of music.  My own  web pages to help with these parts of the test at Grade 5+ and at GCSE are available here!

Camptown Races, Trad arr. Proctor

Not one white note here!  Needs a dry 'clip-clop' staccato touch all the way.  Check carefully the difference between the end of the first phrase and the second, and make sure the dotted rhythm LH melody is exactly in time with the RH decoration.  Make sure you balance melody against accompaniment well too.  The f at bar 15 should be a surprise and check semiquavers are in time.  Must be played fast enough to sound fun - but not dangerous!  MM q= ==96 is fine.
